She raises her eyebrows in surprise... patients rarely volunteered to come to sickbay. She shakes his hand, then replies, "If it's been that long, then I'd like you in after the meeting, if possible. I don't want anyone starting a new mission when they are less than 100%. And contarary to rumors, I don't bite." She jokes with him, smiling again

Yes, Ma'am, ::Amir said.:: But I think this is going to be more than just a meeting. We're entering the target sector.
::He sees the Lt Commander come onto the bridge. He stood, happy to see a familiar face.::
Commander Rivers! It's good to see you again, Ma'am! I hopped on right before we took off. I didn't even know you were onboard. ::He smiled and took the helm again.::

She smiled a little and then said something to him rather jokingly.
I was woundering what the drag was when we were taking off out of space dock. Now that I know the culpret gald I slowed down.
She laughted a little before getting a streight face back on.
In all seriousness though it's good to see you again Lt. and good to know your playing pilot now so we don't hit any big rocks out there.

Yes, Ma'am, ::Amir said.:: But I think this is going to be more than just a meeting. We're entering the target sector. "I'd still like to see you in sickbay as soon as possible... or... I won't let you on any away missions." She smiles, but is serious about not wanting him to go off the ship without a physical.
She wanders over to the science station, waiting for the meeting.

::Brock came back onto the bridge with PADD in hand, taking his command chair. He was glas to see the crew talking among themselves. he knew that the New young Lt. had served with Commander Rivers and hoped the reunion did her some good. It was important to Brock tha his crew be a team and be at ease with one another.::
Alright. ::He began:: We are now entering sector 714. Lt Khambatti has taken us out of transwarp. We are the first Starfleet ship to get out here in months.
Now that we are in the vicinity, we are no longer recieving the origional distress signal. This could mean several things.
1. The signal is a subspace ghost. 2. It was sent when someone was able to send it, but something has changed. The base could now be totally non operational. 3. The signal is false and is intended to lure us out here to test our response time and see what Starfleet still has at it 's disposal.
That's just a few. Who else has any thoughts that I may not have touched on yet?
::He waited to see what they thought. It was always good to bounce things off those who may not think the same way as you.::

She looked at the Commander when he spoke and then thought about the things he said for a while each option in her mind was equally likely. One thing was for sure though she needed to speak.
All of the options Commander are logically sound and equally able to occur. Right now all I got is questions so to narrow down the probability of some of those options and perhap even bring new ones to the table sir.
She had her hands behind her back and that look on her face like she was still thinking but was going to hold off on speaking for a while to see what the reaction was in the room.

Questions are the beginning of wisdom, Commander. Please, ask away. I need your thoughts.

Indeed, I was curious as to what we are receiving now if anything now that we are out here, sir.
She had her hands clapsed behind her back and was looking directly at him one of her brows was raised and she had a curious look on her face. Some habbits are hard to die off.

::Brock considered the Commander's words for a moment.::
Right now, ::He began,:: We are "receiving" nothing. No distress signals. I did hear some unintelligible subspace chatter. No transponder signal from SB 714, However, long range scans have detected nothing in the way of debris indicating the Station might be destroyed. We have picked up a contact that matches the profile of the station.
As all of you know we are basically at the edge of the Frontier. I'm going to assume that we are the only Star fleet presence in the vicinity right now, but not the only ship. Someone else is out here.
I want everyone on the bridge focused. We'll be on final approach to 714 in about one hour and fifty minutes. We can get there faster if we wanted, but this ship is a freighter. Let's keep it looking like one. Whoever may be out here might hesitate to show themselves to a Federation Starship, but a freighter is not going to pose a threat. Hopefully, if I'm right some of the answers we're looking for will come to us.
Anyone else?

Yes, Sir, ::Amir spoke up:: This is a pretty remote sector of the Alpha quadrant. As far as I kow there aren't even any Federation alligned worlds in this area. Why is this part of space so important, and why even put a Starbase all the way out here?

She smiles at a new Lieutenant she hasn't met before. She walks over to him, "Hi, I don't think we've met. I'm Dr. Sabina Jackson. It's nice to meet people outside of sickbay for a change." ::Amir had been watching the screens intently as he was getting ready to take Optimus out of transwarp. He heard a female voice behind him introducing herself. He stood to turn and face her.:: Dr Jackson, ::He held his hand out.:: Pleasure to meet you, Ma'am. Lt.J.G. Amir Khambatti. Just transferred from the Chimaira. ::He leaned and whispered to the Dr.:: I haven't had a chance to see a Dr since the war, except the one on a covert OPS ship. I was a POW and I need to be checked out. Just let me know when you want me in sickbay.::He smiled and went back to piloting the ship, waiting for orders.:: ::The gaze between Brock and her had been brief as she walked off the turbolift and onto the bridge. As she walked away from the turbolift to stand with the other crew, she found herself standing not far from Helm and the new Lieutenant as Dr. Jackson introduced herself. She overhead just a few of the whispered words but one in particular caused her some concern, POW. She would make certain to schedule an appointment for the new Lieutenant. She turned away in an attempt not to hear anymore of the conversation between the two, she would wait until later to introduce herself as to the new crewmember.::::Brock came back onto the bridge with PADD in hand, taking his command chair. Sara would still be down in the engneering as she was in The jeffies tube doing some repair work. She finishes up and climbs back down as she goes over to the main warp core panel and do some checks to make sure everything was in order.

Why is this part of space so important, and why even put a Starbase all the way out here? ::Brock sat back and smiled at his new officer's inquisitveness.::Very good Question, Mr Khambatti. I would expect no less form the Cadet who beat me by two points in the Starfleet engineering exam. ::He laughed:: Don't worry, I'm not jealous. It just means I'm going to work you that much harder! ::Grins::You are correct. There are no Federation alligned worlds in this sector. So why are we here?::He sat back to take pause, gathering his thoughts to best explain.::First of all, Stabase 714 is an experimental research facility. We choose to keep it in an out of the way place for that that reason.Aside from all that, ::He took a breath:: Think about this. It took the old NX-01 four days at warp four to get to Qonos. They attempted to make relations with them, but as you know the Klingons didn't care for us much back then. They had warships before that historic Starship was launched and a fleet that could have easily decimated our own at that time. So why didn't they conquer us?The Vulcans. They had been watching Earth for well over a century before they made contact, but they saw Earth as a planet and a species That had potential.
Unkown the the Earthers, they protected us, and kept more advanced races from coming in and exploiting us. They also protected some of our closest neighboring systems so that we would be able to someday colonize them. Here in sector 714, we now have an opportunity do do the same for other races who have potential.:: Brock pulls up a star chart.:: Here, for example. Beta Taranaga. This race is on the verge of discovering warp. In addition, they have formed a unified, one world government, and have not had a war in well over 30 years. We feel that this world will someday make a fine addition to the Federation. There are also a few races out here that are at a primitive warp level, but are still warlike and we have not initiated first contact for that reason. There are also a number of pre-warp civilizations out here, and up here, if you will look just over the border, you will see.......The Kzinti Empire. The Earth has had four wars with them. Known as the Earth-Kzin wars. Earth won each time.
The Kzinti are a feral species. Also classified as Felinoid. They are similar to Catians and Slovoans, but they are extremely warlike and aggressive.
Regular Starfleet patrols have kept them from any attacks on this sector. If they were to learn that there is no Starfleet presence out here, they will most assuredly attack these less advanced races. Is this a violation of the Prime Directive? No. It is not. If we contacted a race too early, or gave technology to a less advanced race or interfered with the social development of a race, those would indeed be violations.
The purpose of what we are doing in this sector is not to interfere with the natural development of a world, but to preserve it.We wish these young worlds to be given a chance to develop without being bullied by other races. Just as the Vulcans did for Earth all those years ago.::He pauses hoping that he had answered sufficiently, then looked toward the Counselor.::You appear to have a question Lt. ::Smiles::

She listens to the meeting, figuring that there will inevitably be injuries resulting from this escapade, and that she better prepare for the worst and hope for the best.
She writes down relavent information on her PADD and makes a note to get Amir into sickbay as soon as the meeting ended.

A smile softly curled her lips upwards as she heard him talk of doing for others that had potential. The smile because she knew very well what had prompted him to join Starfleet, a decision he had made while still a young boy.
As he finished talking and looked to her with a smile, stating that it appeared she had a question, she nodded and began to talk in her soft and gentle tone.:: Yes, Commander, although two of my original questions have already been answered, I do have more and your response to the Lieutenant has prompted yet another.[/b][/i] ::She smiled.::
My first question is, although I have heard several times that we have not received any further distress signals or communication from Starbase 714, have we been attempting to open communication with them as well or are we holding off on doing so until we ascertain the reason? My next question is, since Starbase 714 is an Experimental Research facility, wouldn't their databanks be linked to somewhere within the Federation and has any attempt been made to access their databanks or to review the reports to see when last an entry of any sort was made? If the Starbase was under attack, should there not have been time for a subspace message to be sent as well as a distress call?
My final questions is the one that has been prompted by your response to the Lieutenant where you mention the Kzinti. I know of this species and your description of them is, of course, very accurate. You mention that regular Starfleet patrols have kept them from any attacks on this sector but with the Impostor War, when was the last regular patrol of this area? With that question asked, my next is this. What if the Kzinti picked up on the distress signal long before the weakened signal reached Starfleet? [/b][/i] ::Torianna then grew silent as she finished asking her questions and waited for Brock's response.::[/font]
