"Ok i will get there right now thank your sirs. Oh and Admiral Malc My father Lionel Kushani says hi." :she then head out of the ready room and to toward the bridge.: Admiral Malc raised his brows slightly as the ensign left the ready-room. He had not heard From Admiral Kushani since his retirement some time ago.
He remembered Lionel best as a newly promoted Lt.Commander on the USS Toledo but...... that was a long time ago.
Admiral Malc returned to the business at hand, and after looking at the latest flood of intel, he tapped his comm badge:
"Commander, what is our ETA to rendezvous with Commander Ariko?" Admiral Malc asked.

::The Colonel listened to the Sub-Commander's response.::
"Do you have orders, Admiral?"

plying to Admiral Malc heard the beep, indicating a communication from within the ship. He tapped his comm-badge and said: Malc here. After requesting the updated ETA, she relayed it to the Admiral. "Admiral, the updated ETA is one hour and 9 minutes. Is there anything else?" Admiral Malc nodded, and replied:
"Noted Sub-Commander. We'll be on our way shortly. Malc out."
Malc looked to Colonel Barada, as he stood-up:
"Yes, I have a couple matters I need to discuss with you...but it appears that will have to wait, as we are nearing the rendezvous point with Commander Ariko's yacht."
Admiral malc paused a moment as he closed-down his console, then started for the door.
"For now, we need to get to the bridge and deal with Ariko...send her off once she gets here, then head back toward Sol-sector."

"Aye, Sir." ::With that, Barada followed the Admiral to the Bridge.::

Admiral Malc entered the ready room, and headed for his desk. He sat down and opened the command-console, reviewing recent intel reports.
After he was finished, he deleted the false reports he'd sent-out reporting his death...a request that had come from Commander J'Den of the RNZ region.
He leaned back in his chair, and thought to himself: What strategic advantage could these invaders gain with eight ships?
He looked to Colonel Barada:
" Suggestions? " He asked the Colonel; hoping that Barada may have an idea that he hadn't thought of.

::This time Barada sat down. He thought for a bit and then called up the tactical plot and course on the 8 ships.::
"Those ships stick out like a sore thumb in this sector. But they obviously did not expect anyone to detect them. Their apparent destination is Earth. However they have the Sol Sector Fleet, the Jupiter and Mars Defense Perimeters to get through first. Even with the element of surprise they cannot hope to accomplish anything along those lines."
"Is there anything else in between them and Earth? If they have 8 ships they have a tactical mission. Could they be coming to dictate terms? Replace more Starfleet personnel?"
"Your orders are to destroy them. That is what the fleet has taken to heart. And i have no problem with the order laid down. As much as I have been trying to piece this together, I am no further along I must admit, Sir. We need to find their base of operations."

Admiral Malc considered the Colonel's words carefully, noting the subtlety in which he reminded him of the orders he had given.
He considered the course and tapped his console , bringing-up the entire alpha-quadrant grid. After this he did an overlay of the projected course these invader ships were going to take.....
.... it didn't make sense. There was no way they would break even the perimeter defense.
"We would have about a 60% chance of destroying this entire group Colonel...certainly they cannot be so narrow-minded as to believe they could attack even a small out-post, and hope to survive it." The admiral paused a moment....
"These invaders are not to be underestimated. We have misjudged them once already, and I have a feeling that they are playing possum for us."
He tapped his console and magnified sectors 001-009. He scratched his head a moment, then looked to the Colonel:
"Colonel, where is our current HQ for the R&D department, and where is most of this technology located?" Admiral Malc asked, already knowing that the answer was Capella star-yards.

"Pardon me, Admiral. I did not voice the possibility that this is a trap. But that is always a possibility."
"Our HQ and R&D is located at Capella Shipyards in the Capellan starsystem. Our technology is located there. Why would the Invaders pick this group of ships in these configurations to implement a surgical strike on our HQ?"
::He answered.::

::He answered.:: "Why indeed." Admiral Malc replied.
"However, I'm not so sure that their intention is to actually 'strike' the star-yards." The Admiral Added.
"However, given our current intelligence on these invaders, we know a few things about them: They come from a technologically advanced society; maybe not more advanced than we are, but if not, then certainly not far behind. We also know that whatever their ultimate goal is, they are more than willing to die for it...at any cost. This could classify them as fanatical....and if not fanatical, that only leaves one thing: They are being forced to invade." Admiral Malc paused for a moment, got-up from his chair, and headed for the replicator. He ordered a black coffee, and when it materialized, he grabbed it and immediately took a sip of it. He leaned against the wall, next to the replicator, and continued:
"Given the two available classifications: Fanatics,forced-invasion; we can assume that they intend to do everything in their power to accomplish their ultimate goal. The problem with that, is that we have no idea what their goal is, outside of complete control of the entire universe.....which would seem to be an unattainable goal, but with our current Intel already confirming that these invaders have been present in every quadrant, and warring with every known major race, it would appear that either they are insane, or extremely cunning." Admiral Malc walked back to his seat, coffee in-hand, and sat down.
"And as I said earlier, I am not going to underestimate these people again, so I'll go with the latter. This being the case, why would they send eight relatively 'average' star-ships on a mission...any mission, that would be of any importance.....unless... Admiral Malc paused again, sipping his coffee, then continued:
"....Unless, they weren't the real strike-force....but perhaps a diversion. The number of ships in the group is large enough to be a threat...and to draw attention, yet not large enough to really do anything." He paused again.
"What if we were attempting to strike a major target, yet we were out-gunned; what would we do? We would either send a stealth team, which this group obviously doesn't qualify as, or we'd need to create a diversion." Admiral Malc said, and waited to hear what Colonel Barada had to say.

"As I stated, our first duty is to defend our territory. And orders are to destroy thee invaders. No one is more cognizant of this fact than I. However, as you have stated, we have very little knowledge on who they are, where their bases and planet or planets are."
"They have the ability to create these trans-dimensional portals and Intelligence shows that they have used them to escape from us on many occasions. We have a few Impostors, mostly deceased, in custody. But we are no closer to getting to the heart of the matter---taking the fight to them."
"They have infiltrated Starfleet and most likely the civilian population of the Federation and have been covertly gathering intelligence on us. They know us internally. And that is primarily what is giving them the tactical advantage. That needs to change."
"If this is a diversionary tactic, they may actually be surprised that they have not been engaged so far. I believe our cloak is effective and we have not been discovered. The Sub-Commander is an officer of the Romulan Star Navy and they are experts in these kind of tactics. I have every confidence in her ability to do this."
"Which leaves us with these particular, relatively obtuse 8 ships. We can destroy them. Easily. Sol Sector Fleet has 700 ships and close to 30 battlegroups. And the invaders have not faired well at all against our sorties."
"We have not even come close to solving the mystery of the subspace harmonic, my best guess would be that it is some form of communication. But I am not in the business of guessing. This flotilla could be the vanguard for a larger fleet action. Or they could be headed to another destination. They have to have some way to restock and refuel. They have to have some form of logistical support and we have found none to date other than ships sharing resources."
"Eight ships are not going to pull Sol Sector Fleet off its patrol routes and I think they know that."

"Agreed." Admiral Malc said.
"Which leaves us to make a decision: Do we follow this flotilla, and try to find out what they are up to (With the distinct possibility that other SF ships will discover, and engage them, as-per orders), or do we engage them now and destroy them?" Admiral Malc asked.

::Barada didn't blink. He didn't move at all.::
"Every fiber of my being wants to blow them out of the stars, Admiral. But I believe that we cannot do that unless we strike at their heart."
"We can send a flashburst transmission to Sol Sector Fleet to "adjust" their patrol routes, setting up a perimeter at Wolf 359. Captain Washington has developed some useful techniques for stealth attacks. If they they get that far, we will stop them. But until then i would like to spy on them and see if they will lead us to a more advantageous target, or we can find a weakness that can be exploited."
"That is my recommendation, Sir. It is an acceptable risk, with a fall back plan."

"I tend to agree with everything you said, but one thing is puzzling me: Why set the perimeter around Wolf 359? Do you think that their objective is on the far-reaches of the Sol-Sector?" The Admiral asked, interested in the Colonel's theory.

"Because that is the deepest incursion into the Sector I would feel comfortable with. If this is a suicide bomber mission I do not want them exploding it within the Jupiter Perimeter."

"Inform the Sol-Sector regional Commander of your plans....let's get this set-up as quickly as possible, because there's no guarantee that they will continue to stay at warp 5.... scanners indicate that all eight ships are capable of warp 9."
