=^= Incoming transmission for Lt. Cmdr Brock Dantara, USS Guardian NCC 73717-A from Admiral Zandile Salas, USS Durango NCC 78799=^=
::Zan appears on the screen and she smiles:: Hello Brock, I just wanted to check in and see how you were doing. Your recent assistance was much appreciated and I hope that my counselor wasn't too persistant with you. She is very caring and wants to of course, make everyone's business her own business so she can help. I have found she does not take no for an answer, but that is why she is excellent.
If you do ever wish to talk about heartache or anything else with someone who isn't quite as forceful, but perhaps even more persistant, the comm channel to the Durango is always open. I am sure the counselor would also enjoy a chat with you as well.
Talk to you soon, I hope.
Salas out

::Brocks quarters were virtually littered with boxes. Some of it was many of his own personal effects that had been in storage since he had arrived on Guardian with Shian. Most of what was in the quarters now were her things. He had allowed her to decorate the room with a great deal of art and and objects from New France. They permeated the entire quarters and as long as they did, so did she.::
::He went about finding everyting in the room that was hers and everything that so much as smacked of New France and packed it into box after box. He looked around and there was still much to be done. He was determined to take the place back and make his own. His personality. His Planet. His world.::
::He kept looking over at the blinking light on his comm console. He knew for some time that there was a message for him. He didn't want to answer it thinking that he knew who it might be. He dared not have a smidgen of hope that it was Shian. Knowing the situation, He really didn't even want to talk to her, not if what Jax told her was true. And it was.::
::He continued filling the boxes and was determined to finish so he could bring his own things out.::
::Not wanting to endure the suspense any longer, he hit the comm and heard the message. His viewscreen filled with the Image of Admiral Zandile Salas. He had just returned from a temporary assignment to Durango where she, along with the Durango's CNS had extended their hand in friendship. How ironic it was that the Durango crew seemed to be more concerned for him than his own.:: Computer, ::He announced:: Put me through to Admiral Salas on the Durango, Please.
::The Comm was placed::

Brock Dantara: ::Brock waited as the transmission went through, and saw Admiral Salis on his viewer. He waited for her to look into the viewer and acknowledge the signal.:: VAdmZandileSalas: ::She sees a transmission come through to her ready room, where she spent much of her free time. She sees it's Brock and smiles:: Hi Brock Dantara: ::He takes his seat at the comm station:: Hello, Admiral, I hope I'm not contacting you at a bad time. I juat looked at your message recently. Wasn;t sure who it was , was hesitant to answer and fine out. Glad it's you. VAdmZandileSalas: Every time is a bad time these days, but unless you have more bad news, I'm glad it's you as well. ::She shoves her PADDs aside.:: Brock Dantara: I don't think it's bad news. You did say anytime I wanted to talk. Now seemed as good a time as any. I'm just doing what the earthers call a "spring clean" right now. I've come to realize that my quarters seems to be new France away from home VAdmZandileSalas: ::She nods:: I did say any time, and now is as good as any for me, too. I was just reviewing some intelligence from the Farengi before we rondevouz with them. What did you want to talk about? Brock Dantara: How hard is this going to be. How long is this going to take. And I find myself wishing someone could give me an engramatic purge VAdmZandileSalas: I couldn't count how many tears I cried over my first husband, both when he was missing and then when we found the remains of his shuttle. All I can say is that you need to let it out before you can move on properly. It's never easy, but eventually the hurt won't be so bad. It may even fade away all together. But my mother taught me an important lesson, "You can't understand happiness without knowing pain." Brock Dantara: I understand that perfectly well, Admiral. It's not the pain. It's the fact that this has to happen now. We're at war, and I need to keep my head in the game. This is draining me, Zan. I'm tired. I'm tired of waking up in the middle of the night and feeling for her in bed...and finding nothing. VAdmZandileSalas: I'd reccommend a relaxing form of herbal tea. It's a very good cure for insomnia. I also take sleeping meds when it gets bad. I keep hoping to find Jim next to me, but he isn't anymore. Brock Dantara: There's more to it than I told you, Zandie. I have some...sources. VAdmZandileSalas: ::She nods, listening.:: Brock Dantara: She left because her father was ill, that I could understand. But no communication since. That I can't understand. But I found something out. I'm sending you an image transmission. ::Hits the panel to send the Images to her:: VAdmZandileSalas: ::She raises a brow, but the pictures mean little to her without context.:: Brock Dantara: Look at the first one. It's her. Playing tennis with her Father. Some medical emergency. VAdmZandileSalas: These are recent pictures? How did you get them even? Brock Dantara: The next one os her, her Father and her cousins running on the beach A friend I went to the academy with works for SFI and is stationed in the Bajor sector. I told him about Shian's emergency and asked him to keep an eye on her for me. He contacted me to show me this, Involuntarily. he was jsut trying to be a friend VAdmZandileSalas: She gave up her job and her loving husband to go play on a beach with her father and cousins? Doesn't she know there's a war going on? ::She suppresses her anger sharply with Vulcan techniques.:: Brock Dantara: ::Sighs:: Zandie, Shian had a Brother who died in the Dominion war, Her Father lied to her to get her off Guardian. He didn;t want to lose her.... VAdmZandileSalas: We all may lose, and we need all hands on deck in a crisis. Brock Dantara: And now i come to find out from another source, that Her Father never liked me. A Troglyte wasn;t good enough for "Daddy's little girl" VAdmZandileSalas: And how do you feel about all this? ::She raises a brow. She can't feel him telepathically, but she can sense from his expressions.:: Brock Dantara: She was convinced to leave the Fleet and to turn on me. I can;t explain to you how I know that. Not until we meet in person again. It will require a Mind meld for you to understand. How do I feel? How the hell do you think I feel? I'm angry! VAdmZandileSalas: You need to let it out then. Stop bottling it up. Vulcans use meditation, some use punching bags, but you can't just let your feelings fester. Brock Dantara: I'm hurt worse than I've ever been. And I have a room full of crap from New France to remind me of it everyday! ::Picks up a small glass vase:: You see this? It's from New France! ::Throws it aginst the wall:: you know what that thing was worth? nothing now! Just like my marriage VAdmZandileSalas: But, you are worth something. ::She watches him over the comm link.:: Brock Dantara: I just want it all to be gone. I want to have no memories that there ever was a Shian Taris... The man who is now the President officiated at our wedding. The caterer came in and did a magnificent spread for us at no charge, I wasted all these people's time. Especially mine. VAdmZandileSalas: You didn't waste anyone's time They wanted to do all that, for you. And love is never wasted. If anything is anyone's fault, it's hers. You have every right to be angry. Brock Dantara: She could have called me. I might even have understood. Look at the last picture. That's the man she used to date before she went to the academy. ::She sees the pic of Shian kissing another man:: VAdmZandileSalas: ::She narrows her eyes.:: I see... ::She engages the Vulcan techniques again and looks back at him.:: Have you sent her the divorce papers yet? ::She wonders for a moment if Jim was doing that on Earth without her.:: Brock Dantara: No. I haven't. I've been thinking about it. I've never done this before so I thought you may know how to go about that as well VAdmZandileSalas: Those pictures are sufficient evidence. Just get Captain Washington to sign the papers, you sign them, and once she signs, it's over. ::She doesn't have any expression in her voice.:: Jayson is the legal expert, though. I may be missing something he can explain further. Brock Dantara: ::stands up to give Zan a view of the room:: you see that table over there? not two days before all this, we sat there having dinner. We made a promise to each other that either we both come home from this war or neither of us do VAdmZandileSalas: Then throw away the table and get a new one. ::She says with a flash of anger at the injustice of it all across her eyes.:: And as for the promise, she broke all the promises, and I hope she feels remorse. And she will... the next time someone breaks her heart and she wishes she hadn't left the man who treated her right. Brock Dantara: I don;t want to feel vengeful. i don't want to be bitter about this. That will only poison me. But I hope you are right about that. I really do VAdmZandileSalas: I don't sense vengence in you, but bitterness is natural, for awhile. It will pass, as will the anger. Brock Dantara: Right now I just want to forget everthing and focus on what we all have to do. The Captain needs me and I can;t let him down. I can't let the President down. I just want all this crap out of here! VAdmZandileSalas: You can move on and be happy, but she will wake up every day and at some point thing, "What if I hadn't left?". Meanwhile, you are better off without someone who doesn't appreciate you. Brock Dantara: Perhaps.but when this is all over, I'm going to New France to have a little chat with "Daddy Warbucks". VAdmZandileSalas: ::She nods:: What do you want to hear from him? Because you have to understand what you really hear may not be what you want to hear. Brock Dantara: Look at this place, Zan. everything here is New France! Everything! ::Picks up a galss pitcher and throws it against the wall, Does the same with several other objects:: VAdmZandileSalas: Then send it to a cargo bay. Looks like you've got most of it packed up. Or just smash it, if that makes you feel better. Brock Dantara: Maybe I should. Or just beam it out into space. Or, maybe I'll send it to the Imposters. I'm sure they'd love it. ::Sits back down:: Zandie, i've taken enough of your time. I want you to know how much I appreciate having you for a friend. If you need me for anything Just call. I want to do something for you sometime. Troglytes never forget their friends. but we have a saying: Kesh vaws iod na impta bin sertu "We do not give tears to the unworthy" I won't cry for her. ::takes a breath and rubs his eyes for a moment:: VAdmZandileSalas: ::She ponders that saying for a moment.:: "We do not give tears to the unworthy...." I like it. And as for taking up time, it's perfectly alright. People accuse me of working too much, so at least you got me to put my PADD down. Brock Dantara: Thank you , Zandie. I don't know what else to say. You and your crew have been a great comfort and I'll never forget that. I helped out on Durango when I was an endign before I got the Concord I'll always have a soft spot for that old girl. She's a fine ship. But so is the Guardian and she needs me. All of me. I think I'm going to samsh more of this stuff. Ifeel better already VAdmZandileSalas: ::She smiles:: The Durango is a fine ship, and amazingly still in one piece. I suggest some sort of holoprogram if you really want to get in a smashing mood. Brock Dantara: Oh I have plenty of those. I think that's a good idea. I'm going to let you get back to work. I have a collection of swords and morte' to put up. This place will be little Ardana when I'm through with it. VAdmZandileSalas: ::She nods:: Sounds like a good idea. Brock Dantara: ::Hold up the Vulcan hand sign:: Peace and long life, Admiral. VAdmZandileSalas: Live long and prosper. ::shows him the Vulcan hand sign in return and closes the channel.::

::Kay walks up to Brock’s door. She had been concerned about him and had made sure the other counselors kept her up to speed if he came to see either of them at anytime. She didn’t like visiting people in their personal quarters unless the person was in serious distress. She readied herself for anything and rung the door chime.::

::Brock had continued to clean the room out and most of Shian's things had been packed by now. He was about to have the computer remove all the broken glass but the door buzzer went off.::
Come. ::He said, as put some omre things into a box, and put them in a seperate pile away from the boxes of his own effects which the quartermaster had just brought up.::

::She waits as the door opens, then slowly takes a step into the room. Her eyes move to take in everything in his quarters…the mess, the boxes..the glass. Her gaze finally lands back on him and she smiles.::
What happened here?

::He smiled as she entered the room.::
Hello Kay! ::He saw to what she was referring::
Um.....just doing a litle redecorating. I had a nice talk with Admiral Salas on the Durango. As you know I was there to help out for a couple days. She told me to let off some steam. So I kind of....took it out on New France.
Have a seat, I want to tell you what I told her. I have some things to show you. ::He motioned for her to sit::

::She took a seat, her curiosity interested in what he had to show her.::
I have been really worried about you, Brock. I could tell how much she meant to you. I know that dealing with the “loss” of her under our current circumstances isn’t exactly the best, so I came by to see how you were dealing and if I could help any.
::She was worried about him. She knew plenty about dealing with the loss of someone, only hers was more permanent. She had hoped that things were alright, but knew things could also get worse before they got better.::

Actually, kay, I'm finally starting to feel better. Admiral Salis does have some experience in these matters. I think I just needed to vent some anger, so I've been smashing some of her things.
::He picked up the pictures that he had showd Zandie and handed them to Kay::
Look at these. ::He related to her what he told The Admiral. He went back to moving some boxes as she looked at them and digested what he was saying::

::She listens as he relates what he heard from the conversation with Zandile and looks at the pictures that he hands her. Her heart immediately went out to him. She wanted so badly to tell him of how she could kind of sympathize with him, but she stayed silent for now. She only knew what little she could see and gather from a distance about Shian, but it had been no secret that he loved her.::
I’m glad that you were able to get in touch with her Brock. I have friends that have served on her ship and they send excellent reports about her. Please don’t hesitate to contact her again. She might know more about things like this than I do…
::She let her sentence trail off for a bit. She could feel the tears gathering in her eyes as the memories resurfaced. She fought hard to control them. She watched him pack his things for a bit until he noticed that she had stopped talking.::

::He looked over to her as she sat with the pictures, a sad look on her own face. Brock knew Kay was doing everything she could to help but that she didn't have a great deal of expeience in these matters.::
One other thing as well i want to show you, Kay. ::He walked over to his comm panel:: I've transmitted my request for divorce. Its been granted with no contest. I figured I'd get one form her sooner or later so I decided to strike first in that respect. I think it best that I simply cut my losses in that respect. To tell you the truth I feel as if a weight has been lifted from my back, and I can now move on.
::He went and sat down across from her.::
For some reason, I keep hoping that She'll contact me just to get closure but I'm giving up on that, and you know, I think that's the worst part of the whole thing. If she just called or wrote to me or something I could have handled it a little better, but just being cut off like this, like I'm suddenly not good enough for her to talk to me, that's the most painful part of this whole thing. Shian and I promised each other that we would be open and honest with one another and never keep secrets. She broke that promise. She lied to me.
Judging by those pics, she doesn't appear to be having much trouble adjusting to her new chosen lifestyle so I think I'd better start adjusting to mine.
I think the biggest mistake I made was allowing myself to depend on her too much. When she left, it was like i lost a limb or something. I won't make that mistake again. I will be self reliant form now on, and maybe that's how it should be. Things happen for a reason. I think it's time for the old, independent Brock to come back out. I enjoyed life back then and I'll enjoy my life now.
::The door buzzer sounded::
Come.
::The cheif quartermaster, Keith MacKendrick entered::
Hello, Keith, come on in. ::The quartermaster came in with a few more boxes::
"This is the last of your stored stuff, Sir"
Great, put it over in that pile with those boxes, ::He pointed tohe boxes of his own effects:: All of these, ::Pointing to the boxes of Shian's things:: Can go. And thanks for your help, Keith.
"No problem, Commander. You want this stuff left in storage?"
::Brock smiled.:: Actually, I'd like you to take those boxes down to the cargo transporters and beam them out, Keith.
"Beam them to where,Sir?"
Nowhere in particular, Keith. Just out into space.
::Mackendrick looked at him questioningly for a moment, but then understood.::
"Yes Sir, Anything else?"
Actually, yes. You see this table? ::Pointed to the dining table:: I'd like a new one to replace it. I'd also like a new bed.
"something wrong with the bed?"
I don't like the way it smells, Keith.
::The quartermaster went up to the bed ans sniffed it.::
"Smells like perfume, Commander"
And that's exactly why I want it out of here.
::Mackendric took the boxes and put in an order on his PADD for the new furnishings to be brought to Brock's quarters.::
::Brock turned and smiled at Kay:: Just trying to get some closure. It actually feels pretty good. Maybe I should have Keith keep the beamout coordinates on file in case she wants that stuff back.
::He walked over to his kitchen area where a pot of Ardanan java was brewing.::
Like a cup, Kay? It's fresh and it's the real thing.

::She listened to him as he talked and watched as he moved to the table to sit across from her. It looked like he had more to say so she kept quiet and listened. Sometimes a listening ear is the best medicine you could give to someone, she knew that very well.::
It’s good that you’re beginning to move on now Brock. It will help you in the long run because you won’t have lost so much time moping over the fact that she left you. I think it was a good idea that you filed for divorce. Even though you will miss her, she broke her promises to you and essentially cheated on you as well. I was hoping that you two would be able to make things work her being on earth and you being here, but things happen and we all have to learn to move on.
It’s ok for you to depend on whoever you are dating or married to Brock. But you always need to be a little bit independent too. The trick is finding a balance. Sometimes I have that problem, not so much any more but when Georgianne… ::She pauses there, not wanting to talk about it yet.:: I’ve learned to be much better at finding a balance now. You will learn to be fully independent again too Brock, and I bet just when you think you got it mastered, some woman will come in to your life and sweep you off your feet again. Hopefully you won’t ever have to find a balance again, but myself and Admiral Salas, we will all be here to help you find it again, for however long it takes.
::The doorbell sounded and she waited as Brock talked to Keith and told him the things that he wanted to be beamed out. She watched as he left and Brock turned to talk to her again.::
I would love some Brock, thanks.
::She smiles.::

::He gladly poured Kay and himself a cup or Ardanan Java.::
This stuff has a bit of a kick to it, you know. Makes Raktajino seem like soda pop. ::Laughs::
::He gave her the cup, Then looked around the room and picked up his digital Guitar.::
This was an anymous wedding present. This I'm keeping!
::He sat down across from her and began to strum it and sing.::
When you were young and on your own How did it feel to be alone? I was always thinking of games that I was playing. Trying to make the best of my time.
But only love can break your heart Try to be sure right from the start Yes only love can break your heart What if your world should fall apart?
I have a friend I've never seen He hides his head inside a dream Someone should call him and see if he can come out. Try to lose the down that he's found.
But only love can break your heart Try to be sure right from the start Yes only love can break your heart What if your world should fall apart?

::She sipped her java. He was true to his word, it did have a mighty kick to it. She sipped it though and slowly got used to it. She knew he was a musician but was still surprised when he picked up the guitar and began to sing. She listened to the words of the song and smiled when he was done.::
That’s so pretty Brock. Someone will come along to slowly mend your broken heart Brock. I’m positive of that. I have heard all good things about music being an amazing form of therapy. People can connect with the words of a song in a way that counselors can only dream of connecting with their clients. Feel free to play another if you wish.
